| The Bible Of Sports Relies On NMG
NMGPR continues to help one of the most respected brands in sports build its name in the competitive sports magazine industry. During 1999, NMG generated more than 150 million media impressions through an aggressive PR campaign for six Street & Smiths Sports Annuals MLB, NFL, NBA, college basketball, college football and black college football.
Part of the PR campaign included media tours with sports legends highlighted in the magazines, including Bill Walton, Brooks Robinson, and Ronnie Lott. A major feature in each 1999 annual was the Team of the Century certainly fitting for a publication that has been around since 1940.
In addition to promoting the annuals, NMGPR also publicized several Street & Smiths award programs. The past two years, the Walter Camp Football Foundation Coach of the Year Presented by Street & Smiths went to Frank Beamer of Virginia Tech and Bill Snyder of Arizona State. In addition, Street & Smiths and the Foundation teamed up to select the WCFF College Football All-Century Team with such Legends as Roger Staubach, Dick Butkus and Herschel Walker. The Street & Smiths Eddie Robinson Award for the Black College Football Player of the Year (Patrick Bonner, Leon Murray), Coach of the Year (Alvin Watt, L.C. Cole) and Humanitarian (Maynard Jackson, Rosie Grier).
