Hoops Enters New Era
As the countrys largest and longest-running corporate sponsored intramural sports program headed into the new millennium, it does so behind the corporate support of the largest college textbook retailer, Follett Higher Education Group and its efollett.com site.
Since its inception in 1983 more than three million college
students have participated in, what will now be known as,
efollett.com Super Hoops (formerly Schick Super Hoops).
The 3-on-3 intramural basketball tournament, has been played at 1000 different colleges and universities. It is once again being endorsed be the National Intramural Recreations Sports Association (NIRSA).
"Super Hoops has been an integral part of the college
sports experience during the past 15 years," said Robyn
Stein, V.P. of NMG.
Super Hoops offered 150,000 students a mens and womens
division of play at up to 500+ campus tournaments from Dec.
through Feb. Campus winners competed at one of 16 Regional
Tournaments in March and April. Support sponsors included
espn.com and Saturn.
